SYRGIS® OPENS NEW COMPANY IN CHINA
CINCINNATI – (Feb. 7, 2011) – Syrgis®, an international diversified group of fine and specialty chemical manufacturers, has received a license to operate a business in China under the name Shanghai Syrgis Trading Co., Ltd. The company will be based in Shanghai and has named Henry Tong as the General Manager.

The initial focus of Shanghai Syrgis Trading Co., Ltd. will be to support and grow the presence of the company’s Performance Initiators business in China. Syrgis Performance Initiators, a market leader in room temperature cure peroxides in Europe and North America, offers extensive technical expertise, safety training and audits, and application support to ensure its products provide the optimum solution to enhance customers’ profitability.
“With our company in China, we will be better able to provide localized solutions for our global customers,” said Harris. “Henry Tong will be charged with building a team to service the local organic peroxide market with strong technical support and safety training, to supplement our high quality organic peroxide offerings.”
Tong has 14 years of experience in the thermoset polymer market, including four years of senior management experience. He has worked with Sud-Chemie China, Noveon Specialty Chemicals China and Gillette (Shanghai) Ltd. Tong has a bachelor’s degree in Polymer Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a Master of Business Administration from University of Birmingham, U.K.
